Gunite and Vinyl Liner Swimming Pool Construction
We construct in two primary industry standard methods, gunite and liner pools.
Vinyl liner pools are constructed using galvanized steel panels bolted together and reinforced with concrete. The floor is constructed with vermiculite and reinforced with concrete.
Gunite pools are constructed out of a rebar skeleton using dry concrete shot onsite and mixed with water, allowing us to form seamless single pour complex custom shapes without the need for wooden forms.
Our Process
Engineering and Permitting
We work with you and our recommended engineers together to map out and implement your design into reality, making sure that we adhere to required setbacks and structural standards.
Excavation
The pool perimeter is marked out and excavated. Soil from excavation is either trucked out or repurposed for grade changes, often a combination of both. It is common that existing barriers may need to be relocated temporarily or removed entirely for access.
Structural Skeleton
Vinyl liner pools are constructed using galvanized steel panels bolted together and reinforced with concrete. The floor is constructed with vermiculite and reinforced with concrete. Gunite pools are constructed out of a rebar skeleton using dry concrete shot onsite and mixed with water, allowing us to form seamless single pour complex custom shapes without the need for wooden forms.
Plumbing and Electric
We use rigid schedule 40 pvc pipe, running dedicated lines to each feature of the pool for full control of flow and minimum head pressure.
Outdoor GFCI sub panels are installed with dedicated breakers for each major component of your swimming pool. We have the ability to add automation panels with smart phone control that we can integrate to existing features of your property such as landscape lighting.
Hardscape and Tile
Coping stones are installed using mortar on a 12″ concrete base called a collar. This base is necessary for the structural integrity of the coping and its’ joints. On gunite pools, this is the direct wall of the pool known as the bond beam. On vinyl pools, this is an additional pour after backfill and compaction has been completed. We offer a large variety of patio finishes but recommend Cambridge Paving Stones. We set our stones on a compacted base of quarry processed stone and dust.
Plastering
We offer plaster finishes in several options but recommend Southern Grouts and Mortars Diamond Brite exposed aggregate due to its’ structural strength and resistance to staining.
Vinyl Liners
The final finish on a liner pool is made of vinyl and ranges in thickness between 20-28mil. We recommend Loop-Loc Liners.
